My Morning Jacket - From The Basement - Librarian [live]
So when asked to find a video for this part of the project, I of course immediately thought of this song, and couldn't help, but post it. My Morning Jacket is a great band, and their song entitled, "Librarian" couldn't be more perfect. There aren't too many songs about librarians in general, which makes this even more enjoyable. So hopefully you have a few laughs, because it's one of my favorites. In terms of YouTube, where I located this video, I use YouTube quite often so I'm familiar with how it works for the most part. They do seem to do frequent updates, including the new movie application, which seems cool, but I just noticed that today. In terms of library websites, I think any videos at all added to a school library website for example would make it more interesting and useful.
Podcasts
I really enjoyed this activity, even though I was apprehensive as I thought I wasn't familiar with podcasts, but came to realize I was. I poked around the listed websites including Podcast Directory and podcast.com, but then I moved over to my i-Tunes to see what was there. I can't believe I didn't realize this whole world of podcasts through my i-Tunes until. If I had more time I would probably search and watch/listen to the abundance of different things available. While I saw some podcasts related to libraries on the other sites, such as a podcast that was librarians reading stories, I didn't search for library specifics in the i-Tunes, as I stumbled upon TED talks, and could literally spend hours watching these if I had the time. Since I don't, I just watched the first video listed, which actually is about learning as she states at the beginning; however, it focuses on the study of what we learn before we're born. I've actually read about these studies in the past, so the video was really interesting to me. Overall, the choices really seem endless, and I will definitely be using podcasts more in the future.

I'm not really sure why these pictures are so huge. I'm assuming it's because I shared them directly from Flickr. This is my first time really 'blogging,' so I'm not too sure how everything works quite yet! I've uploaded a few pictures from my own personal book collection in my bedroom. Although I have boxes of books that I'm saving away for the remarkable library I hope to have in a home I buy someday, I'm able to keep some out in my apartment on my tiny blue bookshelf. There's also a picture of me over the summer in NYC at New York Public Library, which I stumbled across on my camera while uploading.

First Entry/ Spotify
Since I was unable to get any of the links to work for the 7 1/2 Habits of Life long Learners, I've decided to just briefly discuss a quite current music program called Spotify. I absolutely love this program, and think it's the best thing to happen in music technology since i-Tunes. If you don't know what Spotify is or have never used it before, I recommend downloading it immediately because its free! I think this program is incredibly important to technology today, as it's different from other digital music services like Pandora for instance in that you can search for exact songs, artists, and albums, as well as build playlists, and libraries of music with limited commercials for free. There is also paid versions of the program if you prefer no commercials, and would also like to have music on your phone or other mobile device, as well as listen to music from your library without an Internet connection. Their are endless genres, and millions of tracks available by just searching and clicking. The program also allows you to connect socially with Facebook, which links you to your friends music and playlists as well. Overall, this is a great program that is really changing the digital music world, and is definitely worth checking out!
